Most people will think “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” So do I, but not when it comes to getting started with making money online.
Because this is exactly what most people do when they start. They are so excited about all the opportunities that they spread themselves all over the place. They do a thousand things at the same time, but they hardly finish any. Then they get disappointed that things don’t work out for them, that the results are tiny even though they put in so many hours.
Why do I know this? I know this because I hung around in lots of forums and talked to other beginning marketers. But most painfully, I know this because I did it myself! I had a little bit of success, but calculating my hourly wages I noticed that I was almost reaching the equivalent of an $1/hour salary. Guess how happy that made me. Not very, right.
So I wrote some frustated forum posts and asked some old hands for advice. And what they told me after reading through my lengthy ramblings was: focus! Do one thing were you are already getting a little bit of results. So, I looked at different websites I owned and picked the one that made me the most money (it was a website that generated about $9 per month from an affiliate program – not a huge success, is it?). But, no matter how small, I figured I’d better follow my “free mentors” advice and grow that.
And guess what happened? I further developed, optimized and promoted my website (this ONE website) and the next month it made me $53.18 in affiliate and AdSense earnings. Not much still, but I wanted to stay at it. Next month total earnings from this website: $103.91. It’s been pretty constant since then, staying around the $100/month level – but it’s AUTOMATED income! I’m really not doing that much anymore on this site, putting in 3 hours a day for this website. (So now I’m at $33/hour).
Now that amount of money won’t turn me into the next internet millionaire any time soon, but it allows me to develop other sites (which I did) that also make me auto-pilot profits and by now I could basically go to an island in Thailand, lay in a hammock and just live of the monthly payments that get transferred to my account. (I know some cheap islands in Thailand). But I want to grow to another level so I still put hours in and develop sites.
But the lesson to take away is really: get started with ONE site that you really build where you use everything you know and make that one profitable. And the best way to do this is with the authority site center!
